WELCOME TO SALAKEE
Salakee is a beautiful, sloping 35-acre farm which the Mumford family have been the custodians of for three generations.
Since 2014, Kylie and Dave have been repairing the farm’s degraded soils whilst producing nutrient-dense food for their family and island community. Over the years the farm has trialled various enterprises including their well-known duck meat. Currently Salakee has a no dig market garden producing both vegetables and flowers and sold through the honesty stall 'Veg in the Hedge;' they milk four cows (with milk available soon), run a small beef herd and their newly converted workshop hosts events and educational days.
As well as a few chickens, ducks, pigs, several hundred fruit nut and native tress, native bees for honey which the family and all the extended Salakee Farm family use for food. They enjoy living from the land in an old fashioned way.
